Modelling mould growth in domestic environments using relative humidity and temperature

چکیده

Damp and high levels of relative humidity (RH), typically above 70–80%, are known to provide mould-favourable conditions. Exposure indoor mould contamination has been associated with an increased risk developing and/or exacerbating a range allergic non-allergic diseases. The VTT model is mathematical growth that was developed based on surface readings RH temperature wood in controlled laboratory chamber. provides index the environmental readings. We test generalisability this laboratory-based less-controlled domestic environments across different values parameters. Mould indices were generated using objective measurements air, taken from sensors setting every 3–5 min over 1 year living room bedroom 219 homes. assessed against self-reports occupants regarding presence visible mouldy odour home. Logistic regression provided evidence for relationships between occupant responses. most successful at predicting responses when parameters encouraged higher vulnerability compared original model. A lower critical level, which grows, sensitivity, larger increases all consistently performance. Using moment-to-moment time-series data RH, its developments could help inform smart monitoring or control example counter risks reduced ventilation energy efficient

Temperature and Relative Humidity Data in Bunker-Stored Rice

A storage technique in which grain is piled on large, flat surfaces and covered with an airtight liner is described. A synopsis of the concept and development of this type of grain storage is given as are the design and construction details of systems currently being used in Arkansas. Temperature and relative humidity data collected while monitoring a field-scale unit equipped with an aeration ...

Statistical Modelling of Temperature and Moisture Uptake of Biochars Exposed to Selected Relative Humidity of Air

New experimental techniques, as well as modern variants on known methods, have recently been employed to investigate the fundamental reactions underlying the oxidation of biochar. The purpose of this paper was to experimentally and statistically study how the relative humidity of air, mass, and particle size of four biochars influenced the adsorption of water and the increase in temperature. A ...

Indirect health effects of relative humidity in indoor environments.

A review of the health effects of relative humidity in indoor environments suggests that relative humidity can affect the incidence of respiratory infections and allergies. Experimental studies on airborne-transmitted infectious bacteria and viruses have shown that the survival or infectivity of these organisms is minimized by exposure to relative humidities between 40 and 70%. Nine epidemiolog...
